For many years now, our weekly list of wines by the glass has included one poured from a bottle with its label covered. We give no information about it: we simply invite you to pay attention and look for your most immediate sensations.

A small challenge, not so much to guess the wine (hard to do with natural wines, whose character is anything but standardised) as to stop for a moment, letting our thoughts rest, free from the urge to judge, attentive only to what we see, smell and taste.

Without the words of “the experts”, we try to find words of our own, to listen to ourselves from the inside: curious, confident in an independent choice.

A joyful exercise in sensing and enjoying the pleasure of a glass of wine. And perhaps of many other things in our lives too.

The blind tasting is part of the weekly wines by the glass at Machiavelli 64, a natural wine shop with kitchen in Rome’s Esquilino. Monday to Saturday, lunch and dinner.
