It’s 6 pm and, as part of an almost collective ritual, the moment arrives when we can allow ourselves a glass of wine without too much guilt.

Wine as a psychological border between two distinct, often complementary, stretches of time.

There is the time of commitment and responsibility, the time that demands control and concentration. And then there is leisure time, when, alone or in company, we can lower our guard, unwind and let our emotions free us, at least in part, from the pressure of being judged.

The time of a glass of wine is therefore precious, a time of value, and choosing the right wine is no small matter. Drinking mediocre alcohol with no identity cheapens that time too: alcohol that acts on our body without giving us either knowledge or real well-being.

So let’s ask for more. Let’s ask that the glass holds not just a coloured liquid, but a story, an idea, a sensory complexity, so that we remember that wine and love that moment. That is why we choose natural wines: because they carry the work of those who make them, and so they have something to tell.

At Machiavelli 64, in Esquilino, aperitivo starts at 6 pm. A selection of natural wines by the glass, to enjoy at the counter or at the table.
